Punjab Kings defended the lowest total of the IPL, exceeding the previous Chennai Super Kings record of 116 races in 2009. Speaking in Espncricinfo, Ambati Rayudu accredited the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, but added that such victories require more than just a good chapter.
“Shreyas has definitely captained well. These guys were there, they believed: Once they obtained a wickt, two wickts, three wickets, and then there is that energy. On a night like that, it’s more than Captaincy. Everything has to be charged for you,” Rayudu said in the Espncricinfo time show.

The former Western Indies Cricket player, Ian Bishop, declared that Shreyas Iyer has had a positive impact on the teams he has captained. He recalled how Iyer took over Gautam Gambhir in the middle of the 2018 season in Delhi Capitals and improved the team’s performance.
“I have seen the captains sit and probably say: ‘Let’s take this as deep as possible,” said Bishop. “I think Shreyas is a good captain. Wherever Shreyas has gone, and I still say it, since he took over Gautam Gambhir halfway in Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) in 2018, he has improved the teams.”

“I have known the best of the captains who would not have taken this score (111) seriously. Trust me,” Rayudu said. “But he did that guy.
“He (Shreyas) has that composure as a person and as a captain, and that is why I feel … Lord (bishop) here he has said he is a good captain, and that is because he has that composure.”
