This square canvas looks great on my stairs.

Go big with a canvas

I have had small canvas impressions before and have seen each other well, but this gigantic canvas is a real statement. At 47 by 47 inches, it is a true beast of an impression and hung on my ladder to really show it and add some color in a simple space.

While any image will work for canvas impression, specifically I wanted to go with something a bit more abstract, opting for a square impression of this coastal scene, which brings great coastal vibrations to my house.

I love the marked black and white appearance of this impression.

Create a marked monochromatic aluminum print

I love black and white photography and especially pleased me when I took some moody monochromatic images using my Converted infrared chamber while on vacation on the beautiful island of Skye in Scotland. Aluminum printed, these impressions have a soft and matte finish that is free of reflections and lends itself well to high contrast black and white images.

I had an impression made in the a whopping 55 by 41 inches and is an impressive addition to the space of my study at home, which stands out well against the gray wall. My aluminum print came with hanging rails mounted on the back, although you can also use other wall fixings, provided they are strong enough. These big impressions are heavy!

Image of an image printed on three panels.

Breaking this image in a triptych gives it a modern turn.

Divide your image into a striking triptych

A triptych refers to any image that is displayed in three parts, whether three different images designed to show together, or an image divided into sections. I went for the last option, dividing a wide film view during a winter Edinburgh in three foam board panels, each of which measures 23 by 15 inches.

Hanging them in perfect alignment took a bit of doing, but I love the appearance of the three together. It takes what would be a regular impression and gives a slightly more modern and interesting turn when it breaks it, while maintaining the visual impact of the original image.

Try to create triplets using wide scenes of landscapes, urban landscapes or other panoramic images. Or try it using three different images of the same occasion (a wedding or vacation) or grouped by the subject (black and white images, or three locations in different seasons).

Salpize a little color with an acrylic impression

Acrylic impressions are excellent options for vibrant images, since the way light passes through thick material allows colors to really be really with a satisfactory contrast that almost gives the impression a 3D effect.

I went with an impression of an image that I filmed from the northern dawn, shining on a bay in Iceland. It is an incredibly colorful image, with vegetables and vivid yellow of the dawn, mixed with deep blue tones in the night sky and I love how it looks in the impression of 55 by 41 inches.

Hanging it involved screwing assembly points on my wall, which is a bit complicated for a DIY rookie like me to be correct, but I love how the image looks against the deep blue of my room.

Image that shows seven hexagonal impressions arranged in a honeycomb.

This little honeycomb looks very good, but I can add it with even more mosaics.

Andrew Lanxon/Cnet

Create a modern and hexagonal exhibition

Hexxas tiles allow you to print your images in hexagons that can then accumulate in an interesting honeycomb pattern on your wall. The seven chips I received were enough to create an orderly circular pattern, but can order more loads and create much more interesting forms that extend through their wall.

They are an excellent way to show many images as part of a set, so consider how you can themes of your mosaics to work in harmony. I opted for a selection of my natural macro images, grouping photos of fungi and leaves that work well together. But these mosaics would work very well to show their images of several vacations, which adds as it travels every year, resulting in an exhibition in constant expansion of beautiful and modern impressions.

The classic appearance of this impression works well with others on my wall.

Frame a hero impression for a classic look

It is possible that going with a classic frame for impression does not feel like the most exciting and modern way to show their photos, but sometimes the classics really work and will allow their impressions to resist the test of time. But if you still want your framed art to make a statement on your wall, then you must go big.

I went for the printed CEWE framed larger than 20 by 30 inches he offered, filling the black frame with an iconic view of the old man from Storr on the island of Skye. I love how timeless this work of art is seen on my wall and how well fits against the other smaller framed impressions of other parts of Scotland.

Image that shows people looking through a photolibro.

You and your family and friends will enjoy looking at the photo books.

Andrew Lanxon/Cnet

Pack your memories in an impressive photobook

Not his entire photographic art work has to live in its walls. A photobook can be a surprising way to show a complete selection of images that really tell the story of an occasion. The wedding albums are, of course, the most obvious to go, since it can include all your images of the Happy Day in a single book that you and your family and your friends will enjoy progress in the coming years.

But I also loved to create photo books with sets of specific vacation images worldwide. I often take into account photo books when I am out, ensuring that I take many images that really tell the story of a location: architecture, store fronts, food, street art, which will then fill the pages of my book as if it were a luxury travel magazine.

Good photo book manufacturers (including CEWE) will allow you to completely customize the design of your images, together with the type of paper and the choice of exterior finishes. CEWE also offers books made with 100% recycled paper.
