The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, said he agreed in principle of the United States proposal for a high 30 -day fire in Ukraine, but pointed out that the possible agreement in his current format needed reviews. Putin remarkably highlighted his goal of claiming the Kursk region in southeastern Russia, which Ukrainian troops captured last summer, before accepting a truce. The Russian leader postulated that Ukraine could use pause as an opportunity to regroup.
