Mohamed Salah reacts after breaking a huge goal record in the Premier League against Tottenham

Mohamed Salah has admitted his pride at becoming the first player in Premier League history to reach double figures in goals and assists before Christmas.

The Egyptian scored two and created another pair of goals in Liverpool’s eventful 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, raising his season tally to 15 goals and 11 assists in just 16 games.

It’s a feat that has never before been recorded in England’s top flight, and while Salah admitted it was never his goal to become first, it’s another record he can be truly proud of.

“I didn’t think about it before the game, but I’m glad I did,” Salah said. “It’s something I’m proud of, I’ll keep working hard.”

The milestones keep coming for Salah, who rose to fourth place LiverpoolTables of top scorers of all time.

With 229 goals to his name, Salah has surpassed Billy Liddell’s 228 and will now have his sights set on moving up to third place, a position currently occupied by Gordon Hodgson’s 241 goals.

“It’s great to achieve that in such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game,” Salah smiled. “Wherever I’m going to end my career, I’m happy about it.”
