Fulham replaced the wrong player, says Manager Silva

Fulham’s head, Marco Silva, blamed for a “lack of communication”, since he confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon was replaced incorrectly during his team 1-0 Premier League defeat in Bournemouth.

The strange moment arrived in the 57th minute, with Fulham behind the first -minute goal of Antoine Semenyo.

Sessegnon was replaced by Adama Traore amid the confusion in the touch line.

After referee Michael Oliver came to talk to the official fourth Tim Robinson, Silva said he was prevented from correcting an error.

“It was a lack of communication there with the fourth official, of our staff,” said Silva, who suggested that he had wanted to withdraw Sasa Lukic, not Sessegnon.

“We had enough time to correct. When I saw Sessegnon, I tried to correct it. He (Robinson’s Official Fourth) decided not to let us correct it.”

Silva’s disgust with the officials extended, since he felt that Bournemouth ‘defender Marcos Senesi should have been fired in the 44th minute when a yellow card was shown for a luminous challenge in Joachim Andersen.

Senesi was replaced by Illia Zabarnyi for the second half.

“(The replacement) showed that they (Bournemouth) realized what we realized, that it was an error of the referee, it was an error of the VAR,” said Silva.

“And, of course, they took the player because they knew it was going to be sooner or later, probably a player who will be out (sent).

“Probably if I’m in the same position as them, I’m going to do the same because it was clear. If you see Joachim’s pimp, it is clear.”

Silva lamented a “careless” beginning for giving Bournemouth initiative out.

Semenyo capitalized an error of the Cottagers captain, Antonee Robinson, to claim his tenth goal of the season, while Sessegnon wasted the best opportunity for a draw.

“We are very disappointed with the result and with not taking anything from this game,” Silva added.

“We were careless the way we granted the first goal. We gave them the impulse they needed after six games without victory.”
