During the midseason finale, which aired on November 20Goodwin found out who her stalker was when she was cornered by her in the office. During their altercation, Goodwin was stabbed and began bleeding. However, he made one last effort to free himself after hearing Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) outside his office door.
As the elevator door began to close, Archer saw a bloodied Goodwin run from the room and scream for help as the attacker approached behind her. The episode ended with Archer trying to climb back up to help his old friend and boss.
“When I was reading it, I thought, ‘Oh no, what’s going to happen?’” Chestnut recalled. Us to learn about Goodwin’s traumatic moments in the episode. “I’m literally on the edge of my seat asking for advanced copies of scripts and they say, ‘No.’”

Chestnut played coy about how Naomi could be involved in Goodwin’s story, but explained that her character will have more screen time in the second half of the season. (Chestnut joined as medical student Naomi at the end of season 9 and has since become a recurring character.)
“I can tell you that there will be some real drama where Naomi gets involved with characters other than Dr. Archer and Dr. Lenox (Sara Ramos)”, said. “Those are the people Naomi turns to, (but) there will be some drama outside of those two.”

From become part of the emergency serviceNaomi has worked closely with Archer and Lenox, who split the duties of running the emergency department until the midseason finale. At that point, Goodwin named Lenox (who was new to his staff this year) as sole leader.
The personnel change is what led Archer to come to Goodwin’s office during the November episode, as he was planning to resign.
Naomi, for her part, has been in the middle of Lenox and Archer all season as they argue about how successfully run the ED. According to Chestnut, that back-and-forth won’t completely go away when the show returns.
“I’m between Lenox and Dr. Archer (still). “There’s a little more to that,” he shared. “And you’ll see a little more of the relationship between Dr. Lenox and Naomi.”
